The Homewreckers, named after a track by Southern Soul legend Sam Dees, are the musicians and DJs Johannes Ehmann, Gregor Pottmeier and Krischan Wesenberg. For 13 years now, the production collective from the Ruhr Area has been moving and breaking new ground between Detroit techno, abstract funk and melancholic disco music. The Homewreckers’ first release came out under the name of Broccoli Brothers in 1995. Thanks to a coincidental encounter with DJ Felix Da Housecat from Chicago, “Ruhrschnellweg/Catch It” was published on his Thee Blak Label/Radikal Fear. Soon after, it was also released on the mix CD of Laurent Garnier (“Laboratoire Mix”) and DJ Armando (“The Chicago All Stars”). The outstanding video for “Ruhrschnellweg” which was directed by Marcus Vila Richter was successfully shown at the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen. In 1996, the “So Many Tongues” EP followed on Radikal Fear, produced in collaboration with Marshall Jefferson and Harrison Crump. In 2000, the Homewreckers switched to Groove Attack Productions in Cologne and released their EPs “When the Weekend Comes” and “Nobody Loves You (When You’re Down And Out)”. In 2001, their collaboration with rapper J. Rawls from Columbus, Ohio, caused quite a stir. The Homewreckers’ remix of “They Can’t See Me” became a club hit in the U.S. and appeared, for example, on “Off Limits 3”, a mix CD by DJ Dixon. Tracklisting:
